Scooter Tease
The scooter soon to be known as “Scarlet” became roadworthy tonight. She is my reward for all the, um, struggle and hardship during the Baron in Winter project. Yeah, that’s it.
She looks exactly like her brother The Red Baron, right now, but sports a motor that is 100ccs larger. Eventually, she will get a red front end and fender, so she fully lives up to her given name. She will be my companion for Ride to Work Day tomorrow.
We have had some development issues, and I have installed a governor on her to limit the stresses during break-in. Once that process is finished, I plan to install carburetor and exhaust upgrades, and unleash the beast on unsuspecting Vespas and Stellas all over the Twin Cities.
Photos to follow soon.
We now return you to the program already in progress…

Unleash on unsuspecting Vespas and Stellas? Vespas are like wise old dogs, they just are indifferent to the young dogs racing all around.
Looking forward to pictures of your new ride!
Ride to work well tomorrow.

Steve: Scarlet and I had a wonderful ride into work, but the ride home is going to be… interesting. They are calling for severe thunderstorms, with high winds and large hail. I have the snowmobile visor along, and I will be Aerostich-clad from the neck down. Should be a nice challenge.
Betty: Oh, the ride WAS fun this morning! Even with the restrictor I have installed, Scarlet O’Baron (her full name, I think…) puts out more power than her little brother Red ever had. She has the same great handling on those bigger 13″ wheels, and the upgraded suspension works very well.
I didn’t have room for the camera today, so photos will have to wait until later in the week, maybe even the weekend. They will be worth it.
Ride well,

Gary I didn’t make myself clear. I moved to Ar. from Ia. The good tenderloins are from my old hometown. The good twistys are in Arkansas. Lots and lots of good roads.
Sorry for the confusion.

jim: Ah! OK, got it. Yeah, I’ve heard all about the roads of Arkansas. Some of my friends go down there every year, but I have yet to go with them. One of these days…?
Ride well,

I just love the name “Scarlet O’Baron.” I have yet to name my bike. I’m waiting for the right inspiration.
