Snow Days…
Weather: 30°F (-1°C) With snow flurries.
Road Conditions: Slushy, snowy mess.

Emily’s first snow angel of the season. At least she’s having fun…
So here we are in the dregs of Winter. One fairly large snowstorm hit us this past weekend, and they are forecasting another for later this week. You folks in Denver know exactly what I’m talking about… one after another after….
Hopefully, this will all begin to melt by the middle of March, but here in Minnesota, you never know for sure. The only thing I am certain about is that this isn’t scootin’ weather.
Scarlet O’Baron is tucked away in the garage, alongside Frogwing, and both of them are hooked up to Battery Tenders. Sure, I could ride, if I felt I had something to prove, but I did that last year. No sense in pushing my luck.
Besides, things are going to get a little hectic around here in the next couple weeks. Tomorrow, my wife Amy goes in for surgery on her leg. Nothing catastrophic, but it is going to put her down for several days. I’m going to have to pick up the slack; cooking, cleaning, and taking care of our little snow angel, Emily, as much as I can while still going to work every day.
I’m not sure how to treat this situation here in the blog. I’ve just come off a vacation, of sorts. But I will be driving straight home from work, to take care of things here at home, and my rambling ways are going to be curtailed for awhile.
Still, I have a few things that I’ve been thinking about, and once I get the girls tucked-in at night, I may feel like sharing some stories or observations with you. Think of it as exploring new territory.
Rambling will recommence as soon as possible. Until then, bear with me…

Riding can wait while you pick up things at home. Before you know it you’ll all be back on the road. I’ve not needed a battery tender yet but I wonder just how long the Vespa will sit before it won’t start.

Maybe you could post some videos of you whipping donuts in your truck.
Just sayin’…

All the best to SWMBO, mate. From experience, I know that the only ‘minor’ operations are those that happen to other people…..

All the best to the Missus, and remember, macaroni and cheese, macaroni and cheese…..

By the way, I’ll send some good karma Amy’s way.
Mac & Cheese is good, so is Spaghetti.

Take good care of your lady, Gary. These are the times when we learn what those marriage vows mean. Sue and I have done for each other so many times now that I don’t think another woman could pass the audition.
BTW… no First Thursday for me yet again because the weatherman tells me that, this time, the sky REALLY IS falling.
More BTW, I should be receiving a Laminar Lip for my scooter windshield today or tomorrow. I’m also going to try to talk the Utopia Products people into making up a driver seat back for the Baron 250-PM. They don’t have a model specifically for it but with all of the info I’ll be sending they might be able to whip something up. Nothing is too good for Hiyo.
Best to you guys.

Thanks everybody for your kind words. I don’t have time to address everyone individually here, but rest assured that Amy has read your best wishes and prayers and is comforted by them.
A couple of details: She came through surgery alright, but now has to go through the long process of recovery. This involves daily repacking of bandages into a wound that goes all the way down to the bone. Still, she is a brave woman, and insists on doing some of the household stuff herself. She tells me it actually feels better to get up and around on it sometimes.
Personally, I love how calm she is under the influence of Vicodin. Nothing provokes or perturbs her. Zen in a little white pill…
Ride well,

Ah yes, the last snow dump before spring starts to show. We’ve been getting some nice temps for the past week (just below the freezing mark), but just when you think it might start melting - BOOM, another freakin’ snowfall!
I’m starting to wonder if a set of these would fit on the V-Strom:

We have been reading the weather reports for a couple of days down here in South Texas. Today it was a bright, windy and cool 55 F. in Alpine, where Dan Cunningham and I have been hanging for a day or so in order to time our trip back north so that the blizzard has passed by the time we arrive. I’m hopin’ Shelly has time to get out and clear the driveway. I will hose the bike down with WD40 to loosen the Mexico mud and grit, and hope that the salt road spray at least washes the other stuff off by the time I get to MN. Then a trip to the car wash should put everything right before I put it away.

So, I guess that means you’re not going to make it to First Thursday?
Neither am I…
Ride well,

Give Amy my best and I’ll say prayers for her speedy recovery. Glad to hear all went well on the surgery. Emily makes the cutest snow angel. And yea, we know what it’s like to get snow storm after snow storm. Glad it’s let up some. Yesterday’s snow has already melted off the roads.
Take Care, Betty
