2004 XL1200R Sportster

My daily ride is my trusty Sportster. At 40,000 miles she still runs strong and gets me 50mpg+. She's very good to me even though I run her through the dirt sometimes. Surprisingly its been the most reliable bike Ive had so far.

buying new 1200r

I am about to buy a 2008 1200R, is this a good bike for commuting? My commute would be about 30 miles round trip.

yes it is

I just purchased on 2008 1200r from Bruce rothermyer in ft Lauderdale, im getting aprox 50mpg. Takes some getting used to having duel front breaks but its a great bike all around. one recommendation, get the optional alarm. seems that everyone is wanting to grab my ride.

Longer range with the 08's

At 50mpg you should be closing in on 200 miles per tank. The 08's now have a 4.5 gallon tank compared to the previous 3.4 gal. Congrats on the new Sportster (You got the right model 1200R). It is the best all around MC ever made.
